How does photo authentication work?

You submit information about your item along with a guided set of photographs. An authorized authenticator reviews the visible characteristics — materials, construction, stitching, hardware, branding, typography, interior details and any serial or date information — and records an assessment based on that evidence.

What photographs do I need?

The checklist adapts to the brand you select and is shown before you upload. It typically includes full exterior views, the bottom, the interior, logos or stamps, hardware, zippers, stitching and any serial, date code or microchip information.

How long does authentication take?

Standard reviews are typically completed within 24–48 hours of a complete submission. Rush reviews are expedited, and detailed reviews may take longer. Turnaround begins once payment is processed and all required photographs have been received.

What happens if you need additional photographs?

Accepted Answer

Your authenticator will request specific additional photographs through your dashboard, and you will be notified by email. Once uploaded, the request returns to Under Review.

What happens if my item is determined to be not authentic?

You receive the same professional report documenting the assessment and the characteristics that informed it. The fee covers the review itself, so it applies regardless of outcome.

Can you authenticate vintage bags?

In many cases, yes. Older items may lack date codes or documentation, which can affect the level of confidence achievable from photographs alone. Where the evidence is insufficient we issue an inconclusive result rather than overstate certainty.

Can you authenticate bags without receipts?

Yes. A receipt is helpful supporting context but is never required, and a receipt alone does not determine a result.

Can you authenticate bags without a date code?

Yes. Many items are produced without date codes or use microchips instead. Our assessment considers the full set of characteristics visible in your photographs.

Can you authenticate accessories?

Accepted Answer

Small leather goods and related accessories can often be reviewed. Select 'Other Designer Brand' if your item does not fit the listed categories and describe it in the additional information field.

Do you authenticate watches or jewelry?

Not at this time. Our current scope is handbags and related leather accessories.

Is your company affiliated with the brands you authenticate?

Accepted Answer

No. We are an independent authentication service and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with any designer brand.

Can I use the authentication certificate when selling my bag?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each certificate carries a unique authentication ID and a public verification page so a prospective buyer can confirm the certificate directly.

What happens if the photographs are insufficient?

Accepted Answer

We will first request clearer or additional photographs. If the evidence still does not support a confident assessment, the result is recorded as inconclusive or as requiring physical inspection.
